Professional Rugby 7's Player & Captain, Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU)

As Captain of the Irish Rugby 7’s team over 6 years, Billy led the team to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, 2 Rugby 7’s World Cups, winning a bronze medal at the 2022 World Cup in Cape Town, and the Challenge Trophy at the 2018 World Cup in San Francisco, HSBC World Series Qualification in 2019, and a European Championship Series win in 2018.

During his time with the team, he has developed 7’s Players Contracts and built the foundation for a world-class sustainable and successful sporting pathway for Irish Rugby, mentoring many young rugby players to success.

The team recently qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, winning the European Games in Krakow, June 2023, and Billy is leading preparations for the Paris Olympics in July, 2024.

Senior Vice President, Operations, TritonLake

TritonLake is a Private Equity Placement Agent, bringing lower middle market funds, between $20M to $1B, to a network of over 500 ultra high net worth investors. TritonLake’s newest product, Matrix, enables like-minded Placement Agents to join the platform, creating an ecosystem for efficient capital raising opportunities.

Billy joined TritonLake in January 2022 as Vice President, Strategy. He led various strategic initiatives within the company, and worked closely with senior executives, aligning with the Operations team.

In Sept 2022, Billy was promoted to Senior Vice President, Operations, managing internal operations, leading go-to-market processes, and is currently developing TritonLake’s Matrix platform.

Executive Board Member & 7's Players Representative, Rugby Players Ireland (RPI)

Rugby Players Ireland (RPI) is the representative body for all professional rugby players in Ireland. Billy was elected to the Board of RPI in December 2021 and represents the Irish Rugby 7’s squad. The Board meets up quarterly to discuss strategic initiatives, review the position of the company, and plan for the future.

Billy also coordinates with the 7’s player development manager plan for the squad and players. Billy, along with the player development manager, created a network of athlete friendly employers, sourcing contacts and introducing RPI to companies that would welcome professional rugby players to work part-time alongside their sports career.

People & Strategy Intern & Business Analyst BearingPoint

Over the summer of 2020, Billy joined BearingPoint’s People and Strategy team for a three-month Internship opportunity. After impressing during his 3 month internship, he was offered the opportunity to extend his internship on a part-time basis as he balanced this part-time with his studies and his training.

During Billy’s time with BearingPoint he worked on a number of exciting strategy, digital transformation, learning and development projects, most notably, Leinster Rugby’s ‘Fans on Screens’ initiative, and BearingPoint’s Digital Leaders Study for 2021.

Billy was offered a permanent position once he finished his masters in 2022, joining the company in Sept 2021 and working until Dec 2021.

Academy & Professional Rugby Player, Leinster Rugby

Billy is a graduate from the Leinster Rugby Academy having played in the Academy for three years after leaving school. The Leinster Academy is world-renowned for it’s excellence and consistent production of world-class rugby players and individuals. During this period, Billy represented the Leinster ‘A’ team on numerous occasions, represented Leinster Rugby to the highest of standards and experienced an elite environment.

Training and playing with some of the best players in the world gave invaluable insight into the leadership, ambition and drive that is necessary to succeed at an elite level. After 3 years with the Province’s Academy, Billy was awarded a senior contract with the Leinster Rugby senior team and spent a season training and performing as a professional rugby player.

Billy’s dedication and focus to his rugby has always been outstanding and his ability to complete his academic degree whilst competing and training in high performance programmes speaks volume for his maturity and balance he has been able to maintain in his life. Billy is a tremendous role model for our younger players in displaying how both sporting and academic success can be achieved through hard work, discipline and focus.
